Jack Edward “Skip” Stevens, son of Jack and Dorothy Stevens was born in Portsmouth, VA on July 26, 1944. Survivors include his wife, Helen Stevens; children: Cathy Donze and Jack Edward Stevens (Tricia); loved by his grandchildren: Anna, Abbey, Frankie, Jessie, Jackie and Samantha; step children: Rachel (Alex), Michel (Ari), Reuben (Stephanie); step grandchildren: Ellie, Maya, Benjamin, Aaron and Justin; brother, Patrick Stevens; sisters: Sherry Sellers (Curtis) and Gay McAnally (Loren); several nieces and nephews. He grew up in Vestavia Hills graduating from Shades Valley High School where he played varsity baseball. Jack attended the University of Alabama and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. In his retirement years, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Helen as well as watching his grandchildren grow and perform whether on the sports field, the stage or in his living room. He was an avid golfer and popular substitute bridge player. Saturdays in the fall would find him watching college football with his brother Pat. His graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Alabama Kidney Foundation.
