Lt. Col. James E. Barker, U.S. Army (Ret.), passed away on February 1, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born on July 22, 1933, at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.
James graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in May 1955 and went on to serve his country with honor. A dedicated soldier and leader, he was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War, exemplifying courage and commitment throughout his military career.
On April 7, 1956, James married the love of his life, Caroline Turner, and together they built a family filled with love and laughter. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, two sons, James Jr., and John, a daughter Melissa, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren too numerous to count. We will forever cherish his wisdom, strength, and sense of humor.
James was a devoted husband, father, and soldier. His legacy of service, integrity, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
