Jamileh Azzouni, born on June 2,1926, in Jerusalem, was called to her heavenly home on November 26, 2020, in Birmingham, Alabama. After surviving two wars in her home country, Jamileh and her husband immigrated to the United States in 1983, living in Birmingham, Alabama, until their passing. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fouad Azzouni; her father, Jacob Seniora; her mother, Ellen Shaghourieh Siniora; five siblings, David (Izilda) Siniora, George (Marcelle) Siniora, Violette (Jacob) Amari, Elias (Vivan) Sinoira, and Simon (Nora) Siniora; and her granddaughter, Abeer Habib. She is survived by three siblings, Jimile (Nadia) Siniora, Mary (Najeeb) Ayoub, Deanna (George) Haddad, and by her five children, Olga (Munir) Habib, Hiam (Eisa) Freij, Shihadeh (Nora) Azzouni, Haifa (Michael) Kassis, and Bassem (Joanna) Azzouni. Jamileh is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way). Jamileh’s strong faith and generous spirit live on in her adoring children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jamileh’s Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Holy Trinity - Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral, located at 307 19th Street South, Birmingham, AL 35233, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a private graveside burial service at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will also be at Holy-Trinity - Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral from 10:30 - 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jamileh’s memory to Holy Trinity - Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral or any charity of your choosing.
