Janice Faye Bennett was born in Birmingham, AL, on January 30, 1935 and died in her home in Center Point on December 13, 2021. The child of Jerry Comer Bennett and Marjorie Farrar Bennett, Jan was raised in Central Park and graduated from Ensley High School. She went on to attend the University of Alabama, joined Alpha Chi Sorority, graduated with a degree in nursing and taught there. She would obtain her Master’s Degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where she would eventually land and retire in the High Risk Unit of Labor and Delivery. Her hobbies included bowling, tennis, golf, skiing, and travelling here and abroad. She enjoyed reunions with her co-workers at UAB, friends at Cumberland Lake Country Club, and her Bible study group at Huffman United Methodist Church. Jan is survived by her three children, numerous grand and great grandchildren, to whom she loved and showed great generosity towards: Jon Scholl (Melissa, Austin & Rebekah), David Tod Scholl (Susan, Ellie, Izzie, Sophie and Sam) and Kim Venable (Troy, Sean, Jeffrey, Amber and Skylan). The family thanks you for your contributions to her life and your prayers as we grieve her loss.
Visitation will be held in Elmwood Chapel at Johns-Rideout’s on Dennison Avenue on Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 9:30AM to 10:30AM. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 to 11AM, followed by a short graveside service.
