

Carol Jean Ellis Summers (92) of Chelsea, AL, died on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at her home after a brief illness. Mrs. Summers was born in Birmingham on October 2, 1924, and was the daughter of Arthur ("Blink") and Bessie Stuart Ellis, Sr., of Birmingham, AL. Mrs. Summers was married to Hal Alvin Summers for 58 years. She was a long-time member of 85th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham and most recently of Deerfoot Baptist Church in Trussville.
Mrs. Summers was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her two brothers, Arthur Ellis, Jr., and Richard Ellis, and brothers- and sisters-in-law Vera Ellis, Marsha Ellis, Dan and Susie Williams, B. J. and Mary Summers, Spurgeon and Hortense Hill, and Carl and Juanita Dorr.
Mrs. Summers is survived by her daughter Laurie Summers Jackson (Allan) of Fort Worth, TX; her son Darrell Summers (Karen) of Chelsea, AL; grandchildren Stacey Jackson Parker (Jeff) of Allen, TX; Lisa Jackson of Allen, TX; Philip Jackson (Elizabeth) of Fort Worth, TX; Jenna Summers, Elise Summers and Daniel Summers of Chelsea, AL; great-grandchildren Bennett, Dayton, Channing and Austen Parker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Ridout's Trussville Chapel in Birmingham, AL, on Friday, June 9, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be on Saturday, June 10, at 11:00 a.m., also at Ridout's, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Deerfoot Baptist Church, Trussville, AL.
