Jeff was born May 10, 1959 in Indiana, PA. He graduated from W. A. Berry High School in 1977 and went on to study Human Resource Management at the University of Alabama, graduating in 1981. During college, he was introduced to his future wife, Tami (Bailey) Holby, while she was working with his mother at Toy City in Brookwood Village. They were married on September 19, 1981 at First Church of the Nazarene in Vestavia Hills, AL and just celebrated thirty-nine years of marriage.
Jeff's career in the freight industry spanned thirty-nine years as well. He worked for Consolidated Freightways for twenty-three years, and has since been employed at YRC Inc.
Jeff was well known in Helena for coaching little league baseball and supporting Helena High School Band Boosters. He was also an active member at Riverchase United Methodist Church and looked forward to working the sound booth every Sunday. He was a lifelong baseball fan, and loved taking his son, Jeremy, to Atlanta Braves games. Jeff enjoyed music and concerts, especially Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Segar, Bon Jovi, and Aerosmith. This included an annual family tradition of attending the Trans- Siberian Orchestra Christmas concert.
He had a special interest in cars, including his prized, blue 1976 Chevrolet Camaro that still sits in his garage today.
Jeff is survived by his parents, Edgar "Ed" Holby, Jr. and Sara "Sally" (Wolf) Holby, and his sister Kimberly "Kim" Holby, all of Orlando, FL. He leaves behind his faithful and loving wife, Tami Holby of Helena, AL, and his cherished best friend, and arguably greatest achievement, his son Jeremy Holby. Uncle Jeff also leaves behind his nieces, Jessica Barnes and KC Powell, both of Birmingham, AL.
Burial services will be held privately.
