Jerry D. Rose, 82, of Cahaba Heights passed away on December 14, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy McCombs Rose, mother Hazel King Rose and father Douglas Alexander Rose. He is survived by his son, Robert Douglas Rose (Sharla); daughters, Amy Rebecca Rose Jones (Chad) and Anne Elizabeth Rose; granddaughters, Mary Claire Rose, Allison Rose Jones, and Jessica Lane Jones. Jerry was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and a 1964 graduate of Birmingham Southern College with a B.S. degree in Chemistry. He was employed by Southern Research Institute for over 40 years as an organic chemist where he was published in 19 papers and received two patents for his work. He was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Cahaba Heights. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at 1 pm at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home. A celebration of Jerry’s life will follow at 2 pm.
