John G. Howton, age 84 of Trussville, Alabama passed away on January 26, 2021. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. He was employed by AAA Cooper Transportation (ACT) for more than 35 years. He enjoyed fishing when he could but most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Howton; two daughters, Julie Pannell and her husband Bobby Pannell and Sharon McElroy of Hermitage, TN and her husband Scott McElroy; grandchildren, James Pannell, Nicki Pannell, and Caitlin Elizabeth McElroy; two great grandchildren, J.P. Pannell and Elouise Pannell; two brothers, Billy Joe Howton and William Howton; his sisters, Jewel Banks Tate, Kathleen Robinson, and Dora Dean Hobson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ola and Floyd Howton; brothers, Larry Howton and Orman J. Howton.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday evening at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel from 5 pm to 7 pm followed by services Wednesday February 3rd, at Sand Springs Baptist Church in Fayette, Alabama beginning at 1pm.
