

Bishop Johnny L. Anderson was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, where he attended Ramsay High School. Following his graduation, he met and married his wife of 50 years Evelyn Anderson. He then proudly enlisted in the United States Army in 1973, faithfully serving his country for 20 years until his retirement in 1993, as the position of Staff Sergeant Major.
Bishop Anderson began his ministerial journey in the fall of 1984 as an usher, marking the first of many leadership roles within the church. Over the years, he served with devotion and humility as a choir director, deacon, minister, and elder. His calling to pastoral leadership led him to Germany, where he pastored his first church in 1989. In the year of 1995, Bishop Anderson established Holy Cathedral Church of God In Christ, where he led for the next 30 years. In recognition of his unwavering spiritual dedication and service, he was elevated to the office of Bishop in 2003, a role in which he faithfully served until the present.
Bishop Anderson lived a Godly life, and dedicated his leadership with a deep devotion to serving God, his country and his community. His legacy of love, ministry, and commitment will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Bishop Anderson was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Johnnie Mae Anderson; brothers, Ricky and Curtis Anderson.
Bishop is survived by sisters Leona, Emma, and Diane Anderson. Sons Marcus Jones, Johnny (Nicole B.) and Joseph Anderson, daughter, Detrius Anderson-Smith (Benjamin). And a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and family.
