

Maples, Rev Joseph age 89 of Hueytown, AL went home to be with the Lord on April 26, 2012. He followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, father and two brothers into the United Methodist ministry. He was currently the pastor of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in Midfield, AL. He graduated from Pell City High School in 1943. He is a member of Teamsters Union Local 612. In his over 40 years of ministry, he was appointed to these United Methodist churches, 40th Street, Crossroads, Selfville, Tabernacle, Fairview, Asbury-Albertville, St Andrews, Wilsonville/Old Chapel, Falkville, Union Hill, Union Grove, Nauvoo/Bethel & Glenn Hills. He received his Doctorate in 1985 from International Seminary. He was preceded in death by his parents Rev Samuel E. & Mary Lucy Riley Maples; brothers John, Samuel, Jr, Grey & Malcolm; sisters Mary Lou, Catherine, Billie & Rebecca. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy B Maples; daughters Joanna Prickett & Suzanne (Robert) Rutledge; grandchildren Jay Prickett, Lori Prickett (Chad) Jones, Melody Rutledge (Jordan Dye); great granddaughter Bevyn Maple Jones; brother Rev James A (Ernestine) Maples; sister Roberta (Dan) Tew; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Saturday April 28, 2012 from 5PM-8PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. A memorial service will be held Sunday April 29, 2012 at 2PM at Bluff Park United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Asbury United Methodist Cemetery in Albertville, AL.
