Joseph Ragusa

RAGUSA, Joseph A., age 85, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hoover. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Josephine Ragusa; his wife, Mary Ann Tortomasi Ragusa; his infant son, John; his brother, Pete Ragusa; his sisters, Mary Ragusa Lovoy and Theresa Ragusa Conte. He is survived by his wife, Carol Price Ragusa; sons, Joseph J. (JoAnn) and John J. (Paula); daughters, Mary Jane Ragusa Dorn (David) and Amanda Ragusa; sister, Margaret Ragusa Monte (Jake); grandchildren: Claudia, Joseph, David, Emily, Juliet, Jenna, and Harris; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Ragusa was self-employed in the grocery business for many years in Pratt City, owned a Sneaky Pete’s in Pelham, and most recently worked with his son at Sneaky Pete’s on West Oxmoor, where he was lovingly known as “Pop.” He loved people, and he loved life. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 2, at St. Peter’s Church, at 6:00 p.m. Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Thursday, November 3, at 10:00 a.m., with burial at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Our Lady of Sorrows School Foundation, 1728 Oxmoor Road, Birmingham, AL 35209.
