Katherine Amelia Hamill of Birmingham, AL, age 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 24th at her home in Moody, AL. Katherine was an active member of Woodlawn Methodist Church for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. She was larger than life, if you ever met her, you would never forget her. She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara McGee (James) and Jacquelyn Johnston; granddaughters, Katie McGee Little (Jonathan), Amy Wood (Chris), and Sissy Ming; grandsons, Billy Harper (Anita), Sid Johnston, and Chris Johnston; and loved by all her great and great-great grandchildren. Our entire family is grateful to her granddaughter, Sissy, for lovingly caring for her in her final months. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Hamill, her mother, Hilda Green, her father, George Coggin Sr., her sister, Virginia Cowles, and her brother, George Coggin Jr. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 28th at Elmwood Chapel followed by service at 2:00 pm. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
