Kenneth Wayne Morrison passed away on March 25, 2025, at the age of 81. Ken was born in Birmingham, Alabama on November 24, 1943. He was a graduate of Ensley High School, Howard College, and the Samford University School of Pharmacy. He practiced pharmacy at Gilmer Drug Company for over 30 years, owning the store for most of that time. When not at work, Ken enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and hunting. He was known for his delicious brownies, chocolate chip ice cream, and peanut butter fudge.
Ken is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Sara Lee Morrison; his parents, Perry Kenneth Morrison and Claudia Morrison Little; and his brother, Ronnie Morrison. He is survived by his daughter, Traci Morrison Peake (Austin) and his son, Ron Morrison (Kelly); two grandchildren, Emily Trucks Leibach (Cooper) and Thomas Peake; his sister, Sharon Morrison Dean (Bob); and his companion of four years, Joanna DeFranco.
Per Ken's wishes, his ashes will be spread at his family plot as well as on Smith Lake. Immediate family will attend; and "no crying will be allowed." The family would like to thank the CICU nurses at Grandview Medical Center and the staff and nurses of Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the charity of your choice.
