Lawrence Payton

Payton, Lawrence “Larry”, age 81 of Trussville, AL went home to be with the Lord on March, 14, 2013. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 11, 1931 to Fred and Clemintine Payton. Moving to Birmingham with his family in 1948, he graduated from Ramsey High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. He joined the Air National Guard of Alabama in 1957, serving until 1962. Lawrence was employed at Hayes Aircraft for 35 years retiring in 1990. He has been a faithful member of Rose Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his brother, Jack Payton, his niece, Robin (John) Keown, his nephews, Jack (Kelli) Payton, Jr. and Wally (Emily) Payton all of Decatur, AL and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He loved the great outdoors and his pets. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rose Hill Baptist Church 1670 Alton Road Birmingham, AL 35210. Visitation will be Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 11 AM until service time at 12 Noon at Rose Hill Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
