

Lena Bell Zettler, 101, of New Hope, Alabama and a member of Northside Baptist Church, Huntsville, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014. Lena was predeceased by her husband, Gordon B. Zettler and daughter, Martha M. Smithey, parents, Sanuel Page and Ada Bell Mullican Pedigo, brothers, John and Charlie, sisters, Odell Dunham, Othella Davis and Hallie Lee Pedigo.
Lena was lovingly devoted to her family and friends and enjoyed babysitting for her family, cooking and doing handwork, especially crocheting. She is survived by her daughter, Mildred Magness Paseur, of New Hope, Alabama; six beloved grandchildren: Louise Smithey High (Henry), Mulga, Alabama, Janice Smithey Bryant (Mike), Gadsden, Alabama, Sandra Smithey Dowling (Mike), Pell City, Alabama, Randall Wayne Paseur, Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Deborah Bell Paseur, Florence, Alabama, and Wiley Ed “Eddie” Paseur, Jr., Spring Hill, Tennessee, (Kim), Spring Hill, Tennessee; twelve great grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren, and a niece, Jo Ann Thacker (Jim) of Birmingham.
Lena moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1952. She worked at Jefferson-Hillman Hospital (UAB) for five years and then did private duty nursing for many years before returning to Huntsville where she enjoyed retirement.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel, Birmingham, Alabama, with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm and burial immediately following the service.
