Lillie Magratha Earley Cox age 89 of Hoover passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2012. She was born in Maytown, Alabama, the daughter of the late William and Lula Hicks Earley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Edward Cox; four sisters, Katherine Earley, Rilla Vines, Grace Durham, and Edith Jones; brothers, Pelham and Floyd Earley. She is survived by her son, Rick Miller (Christy); granddaughter, Ashley Miller; sister, Gladys Lindsey; sisters-in-law Virginia Bennett and Ruth Cox; several nieces and nephews. She was a long time member of Shades Crest Baptist Church where she enjoyed many years as a Sunday school teacher of pre-school age children. She was a graduate of Ensley High School and as a young lady worked for the Federal Reserve Bank and later, J.C. Penney Company where she met and married, Ed Cox. She never had a disparaging word to say about anyone. She cherished her friends and her church. She was a most giving person to those in need and truly lived a Christian life. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2012 beginning at 1:00 pm at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel followed by a service in the chapel at 2:00pm. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery.
