Visitation and memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Center Point on February 25th with a 4 o’clock viewing followed by 5 o’clock mass officiated by Father Alex Steinmiller of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with dinner to follow. Arrangements are by Dignity Ridout in Trussville.
Luke was born in Birmingham to Sam and Frances Campis on February 8, 1956. He graduated from Erwin High School. He married Lisa Llewellyn on April 9, 1992 in Birmingham. He worked as a Union journeyman electrician for IBEW local 136 for 42 years. His hobbies included family, religion, food, flea markets, antiquing, traveling the country, and collecting treasures to bring back home to his family.
His father, Sam Campis, his grandfather, Luke Sartino, and his grandmother Margret Sartino precede Luke in death.
Luke is survived by his wife, Lisa Campis, his two children Alexandria Campis and Luke Campis Jr., his mother Frances Campis, his brother Frank Campis, his two sisters Dolly Campis and Sarah Vise, brother in law Don Vise, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and cousins. He also has many union brothers he shared his life with across the country and his dog Bear.
Memorials may be given to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 980 Huffman Rd, Center Point, AL 35215. In lieu of flowers, Luke wishes for contributions to be made to the CJD Foundation. The Campis family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Alacare Hospice Services, Washington Hospital, Fremont California, UCSF Hospital, San Francisco California, Dignity Ridouts, Angel Flights, and everyone who helped to get Luke home.
Luke’s final wishes were for his family and friends to help in research and fight against Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (CJD) prion disease.
