Marla R. Howells (Koker), 61, of Columbus, Ohio passed away suddenly on November 10th, 2020, in Lincoln, Alabama. Marla was a compassionate soul who developed a love for others as a young child during her time as a Campfire Girl. As an aide at the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind, she took pride in the successes and accomplishments of the children she worked with. Marla had a strong love for animals and often offered her home and resources to help them. Marla is preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Eric Howells; sister, Linda Beavers; and niece, Diana Musslewhite. Marla is survived by her parents, Weldon and Rose Koker; sister Roslyn (Charlie) Clay; children, John Carmody, Kara (Jenna) Howells, and Lance (Rhonda) Howells; grandsons, Luke and Levi Howells; and nieces and nephews, Doug (Jennifer) Clay, Laura (Patrick) Londergan, Jennifer (Josh) Phillips, Jim Musslewhite, and many great nieces and nephews. The family will hold a private memorial in the weeks to come. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to any animal rescue in Lincoln, Alabama or Columbus, Ohio.
