Martha Jane Ferguson Davenport went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday evening, February 21, 2017. Her life reflected that her family and friends were of utmost importance to her and her faith in Jesus Christ gave her strength and peace in the final days of her life. Martha was born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Clarence Henry Ferguson and Lilla Burt Collins Ferguson. After retiring as a Senior Fuel Specialist from Alabama Power Company, she fully concentrated on spending time with family and friends. Martha was blessed with a large loving family. She is survived by her son Mike Davenport and his wife Colleen, and her daughter Joy Lovetto and her husband Joe; her grandchildren Grace Potter and her husband Tim, Justin Davenport, Peter Lovetto, Joseph Lovetto and his wife Heather, Andrew Davenport, Hannah Lovetto, Ashley Davenport, Leah Lovetto, Laura Ann Davenport and Inna Davenport; and her great grandson Anthony Lovetto. There will be a memorial service in Pensacola, Florida on Thursday, February 23, 2017 and a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham (800 Dennison Avenue SW, Birmingham, AL 35211-3812 / 205-251-7227) at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 25, 2017. Longtime friend and Pastor Regan Boling will officiate the service. It was Martha’s wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a ministry that she was personally invested in. Martha was a monthly supporter of Vapor Ministries whose aim is to establish sustainability centers for alleviating poverty and multiplying disciples in third-world environments. Martha also sponsored a young boy in Vapor’s child education program. If you would like to make a donation in Martha’s name, please send to Vapor Ministries, 338 Talladega Springs Road, Sylacauga, Alabama 35151 (VaporMinistries.org).
