Mary B Doss

Mrs. Mary B. Doss, of Hoover, Alabama, passed away at her home on October 20, 2017, at the age of 94. She was born on May 18, 1923, in Columbiana, Alabama to Whit and Dulcye Holcombe. Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Joel Clayton Doss; her parents, Whit and Dulcye Holcombe; and her brothers, Howard, Harvey, and B.H. Holcombe. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Tim (Kim) Doss; daughters, Cindy (Byron) Aldridge, and Terri (Darral) Kirby; grandchildren, Patrick (Stephanie) Schlosser, Brooke Schlosser, Joel Doss, Whitney Kirby, Ryan Doss, Austin Kirby, and Clayton Aldridge; great-grandson, Jackson Schlosser; brothers, Bobby (Betty) Holcombe, Jimmy (Ruby) Holcombe; sister-in-law, Nell Holcombe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary will be remembered as a bright shining light in her family and her church, Vestavia Church of Christ, where she was a faithful member for 50 years. Famous for her delicious cakes and pies, she received the most joy from cooking for her family. Our Nana was the “Hostess with the Mostest” Mary was unselfish in every way, always putting others first. Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel with visitation from 10-11 am. The family would like to express their love and gratitude to Beverly Kyle and Tracey Sterbonic, who cared for their mother with so much love and kindness. We also thank Kindred Hospice.
