

Mary Frances Hood Bain, 82, passed away at her home in Trussville, Alabama on February 28, 2017. She was a dedicated wife and mother committed to the success of her family. Frances was born in Ashville, Alabama on March 11, 1934 to Willis and Stella Hood. She graduated from Ashville High School in 1952 and then moved to Birmingham to work at Hayes Aircraft. Soon thereafter, Frances met and later married Derrell Bain of Birmingham. She also enjoyed 24 years of employment at Cherokee Bend Elementary in Mountain Brook. Following her retirement from this position, Frances became a volunteer at Children's Hospital of Alabama where, after 10 years of service, she received the Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2006. Frances was a dedicated member of Roebuck Drive United Methodist Church until its closing. She then became an active member at First United Methodist of Trussville, where she was a part of the Friendship Sunday school class, to whom the Bain family is most grateful for the kindness shown throughout her illness. Frances was preceded in death by her parents Willis D. Hood and Stella W. Hood and brother Roston Hood. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Derrell Eugene Bain; daughter, Kimberly Anne Bain; brother, Daniel B. Hood; and nieces and nephews. The family extends special thanks to Optum Palliative and Hospice Care. Family will receive friends Friday March 3, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. Funeral service will be Sat March 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel. Burial at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
