HUGHES, MARY LOU Funeral services for Mary Lou Hughes, 90, of Hanceville, Alabama, formerly of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at Elmwood Chapel. Mrs. Hughes passed away Monday, June 20, 2011. She was born March 21, 1921 in Ward, Alabama to the late Robert King and Lillie bell Walton. She worked as the Chief Accountant for a life insurance company, Birmingham, Alabama. She was a member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Marshal Richard Hughes and Bowden Handley Marion; sister, Dr. Johnye Ruth Ward; brother, Robert King Walton, Jr. Survivors include: two sisters, Annie Laurie Windham and Doris (Hardie) Cornett; stepdaughter, Ruby Holihan; two step granddaughters, Marsha (Robert) Thomas and Kathy (Joe) Costello; one step great granddaughter, Elizabeth Costello and numerous nieces and nephews.
