Miner, Mary Nell born January 26, 1919 went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 20, 2013. She had been anticipating her Lord calling her home for several months. Mary Nell was truly a Prayer Warrior and spent many of her latter days in prayer for her family, friends and church. When prayers were answered she wanted everyone to know the praise went to her Lord. She was retired from Samford University. She and her husband Rudy spent most of their vacations working on mission fields building churches and organizing libraries. After retirement they spent two years in Africa as missionaries under the Baptist Foreign Mission Board.
She is preceded in death by her husband Rudolph “Rudy” Miner. She is survived by her daughter Joanne “Jody” Sims and her husband, Fred Sims; grandsons, Mark (Jill) Sims of Clay, AL, and Jeffery (Michele) Sims of Manassas, VA. Her pride and joy were the six great grandchildren, Justin of Richmond, VA., Jordan and Jared of Manassas, VA., Payton, Darby and Collin of Clay, AL.; sister, Barbara Doughtery of Washington, D.C. and several nieces and nephews and many friends that will truly miss her. Visitation will be Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 10 AM until service time at 11 AM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Crest Cemetery. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers you make a contribution to the library at Huffman Baptist Church, The Liz Moore Low Vision Foundation at St. Vincent East, or your favorite charity.
