Mary Beth Poer, 58, of Pleasant Grove, AL passed away February 28th, 2023 at UAB Hospital. Beth was born on October 23rd, 1964 to Bluford and Betty Bunch in Birmingham. She graduated from Midfield High School in 1983 and went on to study at Birmingham Southern.
She married her high school sweetheart and went on to work for Baptist Medical Center in Human Resources for over 15 years and eventually had a career as Part Owner of a family business, POS Retail Solutions. Beth loved and has a passion for people and animals. She loved to bake and make her children’s birthday cakes, every year being something a little more challenging. She was an avid sewer and would create beautiful smocked dresses. Her ability to create and transform through fabric was a special gift. Beth loved being a part of her community as she volunteered and served others through various community outreach projects. She loved being a part of her children’s lives whether it was a Boy Scout Camp with Josh or cheerleading fundraisers and camps with Kaylyn.
Beth was a former Sunday School teacher. She taught the children’s class and helped with Children’s Church. Her talent in sewing created many costumes to be used in plays at the church, she gave freely of her time and talents. She used this outlet to spread the Love of Christ to the young children around her.
Beth is survived by daughter, Kaylyn (Daniel) Smith; her son, Joshua Poer; her granddaughter, Madi Smith; her sisters: Renee (Johnny) Dempsey and Donna (Ed) Bottsford.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene. Visitation and Celebration Service will be held Saturday, March 11th, 2023. Visitation will begin at 4:30 PM and her service will begin at 5:00 PM. Her Celebration and Visitation services will be at Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene, 721 Pleasant Grove Rd, Pleasant Grove, AL 35127.
