Mary Ester Schefano

Mary Esther Schefano, nee Oddo, born in Brighton, AL, on September 25, 1920, passed away on July 24, 2012 at the age of 91.  She was the daughter of Natch and Lillie Oddo and one of six children.  A devout Catholic and church member all of her life, she never missed an opportunity to share her faith in Jesus Christ and thank Him for all her blessings.  Among her most cherished blessings were her family.  She never tired of showing them her love and support.  She will be sorely missed.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Schefano and her son, Louis Anthony Schefano.  She is survived by her daughter, Camilla (Dan) Turberville of Pensacola, FL; six grandchildren, Rachel Hughes of Pensacola, FL, Joseph (Stephanie) Schefano of Chattanooga, TN, Anthony Schefano of Tuscaloosa, AL, Kristen (Todd) Abbott of Montgomery, AL, Louis (Valerie) Schefano, Jr. of Brooklyn, NY, Garrett (Juliana) Southworth, of Pensacola, FL; six great grandchildren, Neela Southworth, Lily Abbott, Job Abbott, Camilla Abbott, Nicholas Schefano, Roman Schefano; sister, Ann Oddo; sister-in-law, Rosemary Oddo; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  A special thanks to caregiver, Gloria Beverley and to Willie Fultz.  Visitation will be Friday, July 27, from 9-10 at St. Paul’s Cathedral followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Cathedral or to your favorite charity.
