Mary B Smith

Mary Bice Smith, age 99, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother and great grandmother and a faithful servant of Christ, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec 13th, 2025, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.

She is survived by son Roe Smith (Laura) and daughter Jan Benton (Wayne) as well as grandchildren Leah Graves, Kaylee Antonio (Tony), Tyler Benton (Mallory), Shayne Benton (Heather), Kyle Benton, and Wendy Burton (Larry). Great-grandchildren- Luke, Hannah, Elyse, Murphy Claire, Caroline, Trent, Lakin and Alex.

She graduated from Ensley High School. She was a dance instructor for Arthur Murray Dance Studios and a member of Hope Fellowship Church (formerly Chalkville First Baptist Church.) She was a member of the Credit Womens Association.

After her retirement, she stayed active with the arts and crafts at Old Springville Road Library and East Jefferson Quilters Guild.

Mary loved fishing, gardening, bird watching, crocheting, and quilting. She loved life. She was our rock, our “energy bunny” and bionic woman! She kept us laughing with her wit and funny sayings.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice knowing that Mary (Mother, Granny & G-Granny) has now heard the words “Well done, my good and faithful servant” - Matt. 25:23

Officiate – Pastor Rick Hopkins, Hope Fellowship Church.

Mary was a resident of Harpersville, Alabama.

A visitation will be held at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, located at 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235, on December 16, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

The funeral service will follow at the same venue from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.

A graveside service is scheduled at Ridout's Forest Hill Cemetery, 431 60th St N, Birmingham, AL 35212, on December 16, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
