A proud graduate of Hueytown High School, Class of 1962, Mellie cherished her roots and the lifelong friendships she formed during her school years. She was known for her vibrant personality and her ability to bring joy and laughter to those around her. Her warmth and humor left an indelible mark on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mellie was deeply devoted to her family. She is survived by her brother, William Hyle Sanders, and her two sons, James V. Hargett III and William Gregory Hargett; as well as her beloved grandson, Justin Hargett. She was predeceased by her parents, Esther Pritchard Sanders and Romulus Sanders, as well as her sisters, Thelma Jean Starkey and Mary Nell Jackson.
Her family and friends will forever remember Mellie’s love for them and the way she could light up a room with her laughter. She will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
