Neva Joy Russell

Neva Joy Garner Russell, age 90 of Springville, AL passed away on December 14, 2025. She was born on January 17, 1935 to J. B. and Louise Garner. She was a native of Eden, AL and grew up in Center Point, AL.

Neva was a longstanding and faithful member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church of Trussville, AL where she taught Sunday School. She was an active member of the church choir and a devoted member of Community Bible Study.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years M. D. Russell; parents; two brothers, Jim & Bill Garner; a son-in-law, Jacky Atwell.

Neva is survived by her loving children, Roxanne Russell Atwell and Jeffery D. Russell (Joanie); her three sisters, Shelby Garner Meadows, V’Elna Garner Harima and Emily Garner Wiggins (Carl); grandchildren, Tiffany Hoven Mewbourne (Clint) and Michael Jason Hoven (Josie), April Russel Sherrill (Matt), Scotty Russell, Nick Russell (Lauren), Chris Russell (Kayla), Stacie Russell Miller (David); great grandchildren, Katelyn Joy Mewbourne and Olivia Grace Mewbourne, Joseph Aaron Hoven, Abigail Marie Hoven and Asher Duane Hoven, Nate Sherrill, Dayton Rush, Emily Russell and Ezra Russell, Noah Russell and Everleigh Russell, Issac Miller and Sophia Miller.

A funeral service for Neva will be held at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel on Thursday, December 18 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A committal service will immediately follow the chapel service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.

Reverend Johnny Kilgore, Pastor Nick Russell and Pastor Jamie Walley will officiate over the services.
