Pat was my sister 19 of her 22 years at Self Health Care, that is how long I have been working at Self.  I loved Pat and from the first time I ever saw Pat we bonded and grew to love each other as blood Sister's.  I was honored that she passed through my life, she made me a better person for it.  She never got down even in that wheel chair she made the best out of life.  I thank God that she never suffered, she passed from this world into her eternal home with smooth sailing and I can't wait to see her again when she can walk and talk, boy, will that be a great reunion. I have known Pat for more years than I can count..My husband met her and her Mom during a Lay Witness meeting at her church and she and Larry, my husband, were buddies ever after, until his death in 2010. All the years I have known her she has had a sunny spirit captive in a handicapped body; but, confined as she was, she had more friends than most people make in a lifetime. I know she and my Larry are having a wonderful reunion. Heaven is a little brighter because Pat is there.

Pat was my sister, Pat was everyone's sister - if she liked you she might put your picture on her voice board and it would say you were her sister or brother.  I would have been proud to be her sister by blood if I had been. When Pat loved someone or something she loved it with her whole being and beyond.  Her body might have been confined to that wheelchair or bed but her heart wasn't.  She loved music, Alabama, The Gaither Family and Friends, and Elvis and her family and friends the most.  I always looked forward to when I could go visit her for special events or just to go sit and talk with her in her room. She appreciated the pictures, videos or anything you brought her and she liked to show you some of her treasures.  She would get upset sometimes if you couldn't understand her but if you teased her about her boyfriends or her taking off somewhere in her chair she would shake that head and say NOOOOOO and then laugh - now sometimes she would nod and say UH HUH as if you would let her she would be rolling to Vegas if she could.  If you knew her you had to love her - I had the joy of dancing with her in her chair to some of her favorite music, also helping her dress up for Halloween and letting her show off.  She was such a joy - so glad God loaned her to us and I got to know her - If I know Pat she has been running around, dancing and talking non stop to all her family and friends waiting for her in heaven.  I am sad for those of us who will have that void now but so happy for her that God decided to bring His best work back home.  We will miss you so much Pat - even when we couldn't see you, thoughts of you brightened our day.

Pat is my 2nd cousin, I was just a little girl when she was a teenager. She was such an amazing woman. She always had a smile on her face and despite her disability she loved life. Having Pat in my life made me a better person.
