She was a graduate of Ensley High School Class of 1948 --- Graduating on a Friday and beginning her career the following Monday at Bell Telephone where she worked for 43 years until retiring in 1991.
Phyllis exemplified servitude --- Taking care of every friend, colleague and family member during their time of need and always putting herself a distant second to others.
Affectionately known by many names depending on the friend or relative addressing her --- Aunt Phyllis, Fogee, FoFo, Phyllie --- She believed that every day was a blessing and an opportunity and treated it as such --- Often saying that “Every day we have a choice and, today, I choose joy” --- As a result, she left a wake of love everywhere she went and on everyone she touched.
When asked to do something, her answer was always “Yes” --- She loved every opportunity to attend a Concert (Chris Tomlin being her favorite), a Movie (Ben Hur taking top honors) and any Dinner or Party with Family and Friends --- We often referred to her as Snow White because all animals migrated directly to her for attention and she loved them all.
Phyllis was an avid member of Church of the Highlands Riverchase Campus and was so excited to see the continued development of Highlands College.
Everyone that knew her was better for it as she was truly LOVED BY ALL!
She was predeceased by her Parents, Charles Henry & Dora Mae Mitchell Hardin; Sisters, Helen June Hardin Simmons & Mildred Aileen Hardin; Brother, Charles Edward Hardin
