
Richard Willis Holmes-1978-2012 Will Holmes, a longtime resident of Montgomery, passed away on August 12, in Huntsville, AL with loving family at his side. Born and educated in Alabama, he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from Auburn University as well as a Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama in 2004. Mr. Holmes began his career as a judicial intern for Judge John Crawley in the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals. After successfully completing the state bar in 2004, he practiced law in Montgomery and most recently was managing partner of Progress Law LLC, Huntsville, AL until his death. He will be deeply missed by his family including mother, Georgia Willis Rhodes; brother, PFC Benjamin Davis Holmes, (Army National Guard, 167th Infantry, deployed overseas); stepfather, John James “Jack” Rhodes, and his dearest love, Suzanne Franklin Nipper. He is also survived by his aunts, Virginia Holmes Jenkins (Jimmy), Mary Ann Stone (Ricky), and Cindy Toole Holmes; uncle, William Nelson Holmes (Lori); cousins, Mallory Jenkins, Virginia Jenkins, Devon Holmes, Melissa Holmes, Joel Holmes, and Allison Holmes. He was preceded in death by his father, James Richard Holmes; maternal grandparents, George and Mae O. Willis; paternal grandparents, James Robert and Martha Blackburn Holmes; and his uncle, Robert Jackson Holmes. Services will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel in Birmingham, AL. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial contributions be made to Pathfinders Inc, 3104 Ivy Ave SW, Huntsville, AL 35805.
