Rosamond E. Melton

Rosamond Elaine (Wise) Melton, 101, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 21, 2025. She was born on January 15, 1924 in Athens, Ohio to Lochren Wilfred Wise and Lura Norene (Croco) Wise. Rosie lived the majority of her life in the Birmingham, Alabama area.

Her life was spent serving others. She served God in all aspects of her life spending 71 years as an active member of Westwood Baptist Church. She also served many years as a Den Mother with the local Cub Scout organization. She would ask, “What can I do for you?” as she took care of her husband, her two sons, their extended families and when she spent time with her many friends!

Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry H. Melton, Sr., her parents, her three brothers, Lochren A. Wise, Robert D. Wise, and Donald E. Wise, and her granddaughter, Christa Dawn Melton.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons Henry (Hank) Melton, Jr. and his wife Marlene, Donald Earl Melton and his wife Dione, grandson Barron P. Melton and his wife Mary, grandson Jared P. Lamb and granddaughters Lauren Michele Turner and Meghan Elizabeth Sellers.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with a Graveside to follow at 2:00 PM in Elmwood Cemetery.
