Born on October 14, 1945, in Marengo County, Roy lived a life marked by service, discipline, and deep devotion to those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Eleanor Moseley; his siblings, Houston and Charles Moseley; his sons, James Moseley and Chris Golson; former wife, Margaret Moseley and the love of his life for 32 years, wife, Brenda Moseley.
He is survived by his children, Scott (Doug) Moseley and Misty (Mike) Simpson, as well as Brenda’s children, whom he loved as his own: Rob (Denise) Golson, Jim Golson, and Janet (Randy) Hickman. He also leaves behind his grandchildren—Michael Moseley; MacKenzie and Camden Taylor; Austin Golson; Nichole Golson; Drew and Brooke Hickman—and great-grandchildren Mason and McKayla Moseley, and Emmalyn and Easton Golson. Roy is also survived by his brothers, John, Kenneth, and Garry Moseley; his sister, Elizabeth Kolman; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Roy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 24 years. A Vietnam War veteran and pararescue jumper, he completed over 225 combat missions between 1964 and 1972. He was known as a “strict and by-the-book airman,” a reflection of the discipline and commitment he carried throughout his life.
In retirement, Roy found comfort in the simple things. He could often be found in his recliner, resting or watching Fox News, with his loyal—and notably manly—poodle, Dexter, never far from his side.
Above all, Roy was devoted to his family, his country, and his Lord.
A visitation will be held on April 24, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Johns-Ridout's Elmwood Chapel in Birmingham. There will be a Graveside Service at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, August 24, 2026 at 10:00 AM.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Colonel Robert L. Howard Veterans Home and the MICU at UAB for the compassionate care provided to Roy in his final days.
