Ruby Sweatt

SWEATT, RUBY G., age 88 of Trussville, went to be with the Lord Saturday, January 7, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Curtis Blankenship (the father of her children) and John Nolan Sweatt of Pell City, AL., where she lived most of her life. She is survived by her son, Carl Blankenship (Pat); daughters, Patricia Battle (Felton) and Rhonda Hobbs (Butch); sisters, Margie Bowen and Margaret Blankenship (Sonny); brother, Davis Gardner (Ella Ruth); grandchildren, Jim Blankenship (Sheryl), Emily Hobbs Nelson (Brian), and Josh Hobbs (Jan); and sisters-in-law, Bett Graham, Elzie Welch, Syble Taylor, Evelyn Blankenship and Bonnie Blankenship; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved very much. Ruby was a member of The First Baptist Church of Trussville where she was active in Sunday School, Senior Adult Activities and Worship. She was formerly a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Pell City for a number of years, living in the Chula Vista Community. Ruby loved to grow all kinds of beautiful flowers, singing in the senior choir, reading and enjoyed wearing bright colored clothes. Special thanks from the family for the loving care given by special friend Ruth Pope, all the staff of Kirkwood By The River, New Beacon Hospice and her church family, friends and neighbors for visits, prayers and food provided. We will never forget each of you. Funeral services will be held at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 1:30 PM with visitation from 12:30-1:30. Burial will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Pell City.
