

Sara Lee (Maw Maw) received her heavenly wings on Tuesday, just shy of her 92nd birthday. Affectionately called Maw Maw by all that knew her. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and formally of St. Mark’s Catholic Church. She leaves a great legacy and loving family behind. Preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence L. Serio, Sr. “Bud”, daughter Sara Marie Perkins, daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Serio, son-in-law, Eddie Perkins, parents, Mary and Tony Marino, sisters, Rose Cannova and Maggie Marino, and brothers, Joe and Manuel Marino. She is survived by her ten children; Johnny Serio (Thais), Anthony Serio (Tara), Lawrence Serio, Mary Perkins (Trisha), Donna Abel (Charles), Theresa Russell (Wayne), Jimmy Serio (Carla), Benny Serio, Joe Serio (Kristi), Sammy Serio (Lisa Bobbett), and son-in-law Danny Perkins, 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews. Beloved matriarch of the Serio family. She was a devout Catholic spending hours a day praying, watching Mother Angelica and praying the rosaries. Her first priority was to God and her family. She never went to sleep without asking God to protect her family which she named all of them individually. She loved cooking Italian food for her family, holidays with family and extended family that could easily exceed up to 100 or more. She was small in stature, huge in heart and with the strength of steel with her family. All that ever met her, loved her. Visitation will be Friday, July 31st at St. Peter’s Catholic Church from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with Rosary immediately following. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday morning at 9:00 am with the Very Reverend Thomas Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
