the Lord on September 16, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband
of 56 years, Joe F. Griffith. She was also preceded in death by her father,
Thomas Spurgeon Smith; mother, Nettie Lee Smith and brother, Spurgeon
Bush Smith.
She was a former resident of Fairfield First Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Mrs. Griffith was devoted to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her family and
her friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She graduated from Fairfield High School and attended Massey Business
College. She was a member of the Fairfield High School Alumni Association
and a lifetime member of the Navajo Hills Garden Club.
She worked at the Electricians Union 136 for five years until she married
Joe Griffith. Then she became a full-time housewife and mother.
After moving to Alabaster, she became a member of the First Baptist
Church of Alabaster and a member of the Esther Sunday School Class.
Survivors include daughter Linda Ballard (James) of Alabaster; son, Joe
Griffith (Shelia) of Thorsby; grandsons Brian Ballard and David Ballard both
of Hoover. Other survivors include her sister-in-law, Barbara Smith and
several nieces and nephews.
A service in the chapel at Elmwood Funeral Home will be held at
11:00 a.m. on September 18, 2013. Visitation will be held one hour before.
