A funeral service will be held in her honor on January 5th, 2025, at two o’ clock in the afternoon at John Ridout’s Funeral Home in Trussville, Alabama. The funeral service will be officiated by Brother Scott Stevenson, as Syble requested many years prior. The visitation will be held from 1 to 2pm preceding the funeral service.
Syble Odene Carr was born on May 8th, 1940, in Trussville, Alabama. A true homebody, she was born, raised, and lived on the same property most of her life. After graduating Hewitt-Trussville High School, she continued to stay close to her family and worked at Kresge's five and dime store. Several years later, she met and married her one true love John E. Carr and had had her only child Samantha. Ms. Carr’s life was centered on family and taking care of those she loved. After devoting her life to being a dedicated stay-at-home mother, she continued her role as caregiver for both her sister, Almeda and mother, Bertha in their illnesses. This virtue was prominent throughout her life as she always offered a place of refuge for those who needed comfort and served as a true matriarch of her family. After becoming a grandmother, she dedicated her time to watching her two grandchildren Kody and Bailey. Her loyalty to her family was unwavering, even amidst dealing with health issues of her own since birth.
She now joins her loved ones who preceded her such as her loving husband John E. Carr, her mother, Bertha Idene Waters, her father, O.D. Waters, and her older sister Elizabeth Almeda (Dotdot) Edwards.
Her legacy and memory are survived through those she loved and cared for. Syble Odene Carr lives on through her only child, Samantha Kerzic and her husband, Robert Lee Kerzic, her grandchildren Bailey Hicks (Fox Lindstrom), Kody Hicks (Shelby), and Chris Kerzic (Beth), her 4 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Barret, Remy, and Ryder, her nephews Randy Edwards (Rebecca) and Ricky Edwards (Belinda), her great nieces and nephew, Jennifer Hawthorne (Trey), Michelle Shelton (Brad) and Richard Brandon Edwards.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
