

Tom (Tommy to his family) was a successful owner and businessman with Community Cleaning and Maintenance, a janitorial service in Birmingham. His friends talked about how kind, generous and funny he was. He was much loved by his community here.
His business partner Keith Graham, explained how he helped his employees lead better lives and thrive because of him. He was very involved in his community and gave to various
charitable organizations.
Later in life, he discovered a love of travel, especially on cruises, and in fact sailed on eight last year alone. He went with groups of friends so often they dubbed him their “Cruise Director”.
He left behind his spouse, TJ Gilmore, Birmingham, AL; his beloved sisters, Anne Rentz of Marietta, GA, Becky Rentz and spouse Julie Groenen of Clarkston, GA, Laura Rentz Hedrick and spouse Rory (Beaver) L. Hedrick of Marietta, GA.
Also special to him were his niece Katie Waters, spouse John, children David (Ivy) Crockett IV, Melissa and Elizabeth Waters, nephews Joshua Lynn Hedrick and spouse Frances, grandniece Julia Mae Hedrick and grandnephew Jonathan Henry Hedrick; Brian Thomas Hedrick and spouse Carole; niece Jennifer Lynn Mansfield, grandnephew Hunter Wright and grandniece Payten Wright; nephew John Mills and spouse Natalie, grandnieces and nephews Dryden, Andy, Jack Mills; Madeline and Aidan Hunt.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Henry Rentz Jr and Mary Kay Rentz.
There will be a Memorial Service on May 17th at 1:00pm in Birmingham at Johns-Ridout’s Mortuary Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Ave. SW Birmingham Alabama 35211.
After the Service, there will be a gathering of friends and family at Tom’s home at 2804 11th Ave. South
Birmingham, AL 35205
