Virginia Thornburgh Boles Virginia Thornburgh Boles passed away March 11, 2015 at Fairhaven Retirement Center in Birmingham, Al. at the age of 87. She was born May 3, 1927 to Clarence and Gladis Thornburgh in Birmingham, Al. Virginia graduated from Shades Cahaba High School and attended the University of Alabama were she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas N. Boles, who she had married on Sept. 3, 1948. She survived by her daughter Katherine Stallings (Kirk) of Newnan, Ga., Thomas N. Boles, Jr. (Hope) of Pell City, Al., 6 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Virginia worked for many years for Continental Can Co. as an office manager. She and Tommy shared a love of Alabama football and enjoyed following the Tide to many a bowl game. She also was an excellent bowler for her Barber’s Milk Team. Virginia had been a member of Huffman Methodist Church for 57 years. The family extends special thanks to her caregivers on the SCALF wing at Fairhaven. The family will receive friends at John-Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel on March 14, 2015 beginning at 1pm followed by a memorial service at 2pm.
