Walter Gary Golden, age 85, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025. Born on December 2, 1940, in Birmingham, Gary was the beloved son of Walter Kermit Golden and Clyde Lenora Golden.
Gary grew up in the Birmingham area and attended Minor High School. He went on to build a successful career as a journeyman electrician, known for his skill and dedication to his craft. Beyond his work, Gary had a passion for adventure—earning his pilot’s license and spending countless hours soaring through the skies. He also loved the simple joys of life: fishing on quiet waters and cheering on his favorite drivers while watching NASCAR.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John Strickland; his sister, Betty Lundstrom; and his son, Barry Faulkner.
Gary leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his sons, Jay Faulkner (Crystal) and Brian Faulkner (Cindy); his grandchildren, Eric, Suzie, David, Dustin, Gracie, Morgan, and Brady; his sisters, Jane and Carole; and his cousins, Bradley Loggins and Terry Loggins.
Visitation will be held at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Gary will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Gary’s life was marked by kindness, curiosity, and a love for family and the outdoors. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
