William Conwell

Conwell, William age 86, passed away Thursday October 22, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Elma Conwell brothers Donald and Joe Lee Conwell and his former wife Margaret Ann (Sugar) and his grandson Patrick Conwell.

He is survived by his wife Lois, daughter Margaret C. (Earl) Mummert, sons William Wells (Beth) Conwell Jr. and John Berry (Malinda) Conwell. He is also survived by four grandchildren and one great grandson.

Mr. Conwell was a lifelong member of First Christian Church on Valley Dale Road in Birmingham. He was also a long time member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and more recently Holy Infant of Prague Catholic Church in Trussville. He was a Knight Commander in the Equestrian Order of The Holy Sepulcher. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy where he attained the rank of LT Commander and a member of the Alabama Bar Association; he was a law partner with Conwell, Johnston and Associates until his retirement. Mr. Conwell was on the board of Vanderbilt School of Divinity of which he was co-founder.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to Home Instead Senior Care and Lakeside Hospice.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Holy Infant of Prague building fund.

Funeral Service will be Saturday October 24, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Holy Infant of Prague Catholic Church with Ridout’s Trussville Chapel directing and interment to follow in Southern Heritage Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church Friday evening from 5 PM until 7 PM with a Rosary Service to follow.

Bill was a loving husband, father, and friend and will be missed by many.
