

Tom was the Valedictorian of the class of 1968 at Jones Valley High School. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Covenant College; a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology in Biblical and Pastoral Studies from Covenant Theological Seminary; a Master of Arts in Teaching from SUNY Binghamton; a Master of Science in Mathematics from UAB. He served as a pastor from 1976 to 1990 at Covenant of Grace Church in Binghamton, New York. He went on to a teaching career at Briarwood Christian High School from 1990 to 2018. From 2001 to 2009, Tom was the English Pastor at Korean Presbyterian Church of Birmingham. He also wrote a book, Seeing God Through Mathematics.
Tom had 5 passions in life, Family, Grandchildren, Bible, Math, and Alabama Football. He was known by many to be the most passionate person about teaching mathematics that they had ever known.
Tom and his wife, Dotti were married in Stilwell, Oklahoma on August 11, 1973. In their 48 years together they raised two daughters, Kristen and Clara; who gave them four beautiful grandchildren, Henry, Ella, Alice, and Conrad.
His father, William Farr, preceded Tom in death. He is survived by his wife, Dotti Farr of Pelham, Alabama; daughters, Kristen Farr (Hsiong Chen) of Ellicott City, Maryland, and Clara Farr-Rice (Micah) of San Francisco, California; grandchildren, Henry, Ella, Alice, and Conrad; mother, Clara Farr of Hoover, Alabama; brothers, John Farr of Leesburg, Virginia and David Farr of New Orleans, Louisiana; and sister, Beth Jantz of Harpersville, Alabama.
