

Carl Deal, Jr., age 53, of Bloomington, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, August 2. Born April 13, 1959 in Norfolk, Virginia, he was the son of Carl Deal, Sr. and Frances Leola (Brown) Deal. He was employed at General Electric in Bloomington where he was recently recognized for 25 years of service and was a member of I.B.E.W. local #2249. He was a 1978 graduate of Bloomington High School North where he played football, basketball, and baseball. Carl loved to play golf, was a grill master and chef, and would lighten up any room with his kindness and infectious laugh. He was the happiest when he spent time with his daughter, Tinisha, a recent graduate of Bloomington High School South. Carl was an avid I.U. Sports fan. He grew up in the Second Baptist Church and attended Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Berit (Brewer) Deal, of Bloomington, his daughter, Tinisha Renae Deal, of Bloomington; two step-daughters and sons-in-law, Keissa and Djibril Kante and Hannah and Abe Redden; three sisters, Madonna (Deal) Brown, of Bloomington, Clara Deal, of Cincinnati, Ohio and Betty Simmons, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; one brother, Steve Deal, of Marietta, Georgia; five grandchildren, Kyla, Bril, D.J., Jace, and John Kale; his aunts, Charlotte Deal Brown, Anise Banks, Helen Polk, Cleo McGruder and Bonnie Moore and Carrie Mansfield; uncles, David E. Brown, Paul Brown, Raymond Brown, Richard Brown and Joe Brown; nieces and nephews, Janelle, Mikala, Jeryl, Jarysa and Thomas “Jr. and great nieces and nephews, U’nique, Jada, Mariah, and Claire.
He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents, Leo and Mary Frances Brown, paternal grandparents, Maceo and Ada Deal, one uncle, Charles Brown, one nephew, Windele J. and one niece, Shawnda.
Visitation will be at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church on Sunday (8/5) from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church with one hour of visitation preceding the service. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club in memory of Carl Deal, Jr. to fund a scholarship in his name.
Day Funeral Home in Bloomington is in charge of arrangements.
