Obituario de Carmella Paulann Weathers Hardy
Carmella Hardy, 84, of Bloomington died July 19, 2019 at Hospice House. She was born in Ellettsville on June 9, 1935 to Hallie C. and Elfreda (Hamilton) Weathers. She worked as a dental assistant at the Crest Dental Study at IU in the 1950s - 1960s. She graduated from Milady Beauty School in 1963, Milady Beauty College in 1966, and served as a beautician in Bloomington until just a few short years ago. Her business, Cuts ‘n Fashions at Carmella’s, served as both a workplace and a place to share her faith with her clients, many of whom were more like family and friends than customers. She was a member of the West Second Street Church of Christ in Bloomington. She taught children’s Bible Study classes to generations of children, including her own children and grandchildren. She attended ladies Bible Classes and hosted them in her home for many years. She also opened her home for a local congregation to hold services. She loved wildlife, and enjoyed all of God’s beautiful creations. She especially loved birds and the squirrels and rabbits who frequented her yard. Her favorite place to visit was the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and she passed her love of the park to her children and grandchildren. She most recently visited the park in October with her daughter and her family and loved all the beauty she saw there. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Coziene L. Weathers; two sisters, Avonelle Stephens, and Maivereen Woods; her ex-husband, Roger Hardy; 1 niece, 2 nephews and 1 great-great niece. Survivors include her son, Roger J. Hardy (Sara) of Bloomington; her daughter Caree “Cymme” Jent (Dave) of Bloomington; two stepsons Nathan Hardy of Bloomington and Todd Hardy of Orlando, Florida; her beloved grandchildren Beau, Jackson and Harper Jent; two step-grandchildren Helen and Meredith Jent; as well as two other grandchildren. She loved taking Harper to Wendy’s and for strolls through the neighborhood, as well as playing baby dolls and most especially eating ice cream together. She loved taking Jackson to Arby’s when he was a preschooler, and feeding the squirrels with him in her yard. She loved taking Beau to McDonald’s for French fries when he was little, and special “dates” to Wendy’s when he was bigger. She loved having him hug her every day when he got off the bus, and his reminders of her upcoming appointments. She was their beloved gramma “Hey-Hey”. Visitation will be held at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St. Bloomington, 47401 on Monday, July 22, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 10:00 a.m. also in the funeral home.
