

Charles P. “Chuck” Stickels, 86, of Bloomington, died Wednesday at Stonecroft Health Campus in Bloomington. Born January 18, 1933 in Bloomington, he was the son of James Melvin and Erma Ethel (Dillon) Stickels. Chuck was a graduate of Bloomington High School, class of 1951 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired after 43 years from R.C.A. - Thomson Consumer Electronics where he was a precision measurements inspector. He also served as a supervisor for ticket takers at I.U. Athletic events and other events for 33 years. He was a founding member of the West Second St. Church of Christ from December 9, 1956 until his death where he had served as an Elder, Deacon and Trustee. He was a member of the American Legion Post #18. Chuck also loved building wood miniatures of homes and other buildings.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Caroline (Peace) Stickels, of Bloomington; two daughters, Pamela Rose Stickels, of Bloomington and Teresa Elaine (husband-Joe) Butler, of Bloomfield, one son, Steven Michael (wife-Deana) Stickels, of Spencer; two brothers, John Benjamin Stickels, of Pecos, Texas and Clyde Melvin Stickels, of Allen, Texas, one sister, Thelma Catherine (husband-Bob) Naylor, of Bloomington; seven grandchildren, Shawn (wife-Kim) Stickels, Scott (wife-Maribelle) Stickels, Stephanie (husband-Eric) Hoadley, Nicole (husband-Garrett) Shields, Brooke (husband-Kolter) Sokeland, Amanda Butler and Jordan Butler and seven great-grandchildren, Shaydon, Kaylynn, Kelsey and Lila Stickels and Emmett, Sophia and Finn Hoadley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William E. Stickels and Thomas Russell Stickels.
The funeral service will be on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Day and Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St. with Brother Mike Davis and Brother Gary Fiscus officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the West Second Street Church of Christ.
