

Curtis proudly served his country as a Marine. After serving in the military, Curtis made his career as a heavy equipment operator belonging to the International Union of Operating Engineers #103 for nearly 50 years. In his retirement years he enjoyed helping his nephew, Mark, on his farm in Whitehall. He was always there to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it no matter who they were. He always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Curtis is survived by his three sisters, Jean (Gene) Crafton, Zella Mae (Louis) Brown and Janet (Robert) Alexander; and many other beloved family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda (Willis) Carpenter in 1981; three brothers, George, Kenneth and Austin Carpenter; and a sister, Ruth Deckard.
Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Day Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield, IN. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2013 at Day Funeral Home.
