Donald Wayne Francis

Donald Wayne Francis, Sr., 77 of Martinsville, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2018 at the Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis. Born in Brazil, Indiana on March 29, 1941, he was the son of Harvey and Rosemary Francis. Don graduated from Staunton High School and later from Indiana State University with a Masters in Education. He married Kay (Watson) Francis on December 15, 1962. She preceded him in death on August 28, 1987. Don had an enormous impact on the lives of his students while teaching at Bloomington North and South High Schools. He was known last as “A Doctor of Trees” and prior to that the proud owner of A-1 Tree Service. He was an arborist, an inventor and the author of “Tree Care, That Really Works!”. Don was a member of Martinsville Baptist Tabernacle. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy Jo (Wilkerson) Francis, sons Donald Wayne Jr. and Jon Anthony, daughters Donna Kay Garner and Kimberly Nicole Kofler, brother Kenneth Earl and sisters Janet Sue Schildmeier and Nancy Ann Followell ; eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one on-the-way. Visitation for Don will be held on July 28, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a service at 12 p.m. in Day and Deremiah -Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. 3rd Street, Bloomington, Indiana 47401.
