Don served in the Army National Guard. He worked for Sarkes Tarzians and Otis Elevator as an electrical engineer, retiring in 1998. Don was a member of the Masonic Lodge #245 in Ellettsville, the Stonebelt Shrine Club, he was the president of the minibike club for several years, Moose Lodge, the Elks and the American Legion.
Don loved to garden, go camping and fishing, travel to Florida, spend time with his family and “piddle” in his workshop.
Don is survived by his daughter Lynetta(Scott)Turner, his granddaughter Amanda Combs, his son Bryan(Annette Palmer)Hardesty, two step-grandsons: Brandon and J.D. Palmer, two nephews: Jim and Jeff Hardesty, his brother Gerald(Martha)Hardesty, and his beloved Boston Terrier Molly.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Friends may call on Saturday, December 21, 2013 from 12-2 p.m. in Day Funeral Home. A Masonic service will follow at 2 p.m. Inurnment in Valhalla Memory Gardens at a later date.
