Edna Staley

Edna Hendrickson Staley, 98 of Bloomington, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at IU Hospice House. She is survived by her children Marilyn (Dennis) Smith, Ellettsville, Thomas (Sandra) Staley, Ellettsville and Connie (Charles) Schneider, Fishers IN, 7 grandchildren, Rhonda (John) Houghtelin, Scott (Susan) Smith, Carrie (Scott) Black, Doug (Erin) Smith, Ben (Shannon) Staley, Amy (Carter) Longardner, Bruce Staley and 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Edna was preceded in death by her husband Harry L. Staley, her parents Robert and Ocie Hendrickson, grandsons Thomas (TD) Staley and Brandon (Lavonne) Staley, siblings Herbert Hendrickson, Clarice Hendrickson, Ruah Camden, Robert D. Hendrickson, Joseph Hendrickson, Carl Hendrickson, May Mitchell, Georgia Pearson, Walter Hendrickson and Esther Childress. Edna became a widow before she was 30 with 3 young children. She tirelessly cared for them as well as those others she loved. Edna worked many years at Sarkes Tarzian and retired from Indiana University in 2002. She determinedly obtained her driver’s license for the first time in her 60’s. She had many friends and continued to visit regularly with her “girlfriends”. Visitation will be held at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 East Third Street, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 11:00-1:00 with service following at 1:00.
