

Esther Clara Lohrmann, 99, passed away at her Bell Trace residence on February 2, 2013. Born on December 4, 1913 in Frankenmuth, MI to Paul and Clara (Kloha) Umbach, she was a tireless homemaker as well as a faithful volunteer in five Lutheran congregations. She served for a time as kindergarten teacher at St. Stephen Lutheran School, Detroit, MI. Being a vital part of her grandchildren’s lives was what she enjoyed most. Those who came to know her were impressed by her quiet strength and resilience.
Preceding her in death were her devoted husband of 65 years, the Reverend Kurt Lohrmann, daughter Ann Petrowsky, and grandson Paul Lohrmann. She was dearly loved by surviving children Charles (Judy) Lohrmann of Fort Worth, TX, Jane Lohrmann of Virginia Beach, VA, David (Julie) Lohrmann of Bloomington, IN; and son-in-law Harold Petrowsky; grandchildren Nathan Lohrmann, Chloe Lohrmann, Douglas MacDonald, Barbara MacDonald, Ruth Schafer, Ellen Whitehurst, Kurt Lohrmann and Ross Lohrmann; thirteen great-grandchildren; and five sisters and two brothers plus many other relatives and friends. A service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 5 p.m. in Faith Lutheran Church; her family will receive visitors at the church beginning at 4 p.m. Donations in her memory can be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Bloomington, IN or to the Kurt T.
